1. Stress

Under normal working pressure, the thickness of the air gap between the air bearing and the guide rail is fixed, which can ensure the good repeatability of the CMM. If the gas supply pressure fluctuates, the change of the preload force of the gas bearing will correspondingly lead to the change of the interfilm space. When the interfilm space becomes very small, there is a certain friction between the air bearing and the guide rail, which may cause relative friction between the air bearing and the guide rail when the machine is running. It may even seriously cause scratches on the guide rail and affect the performance of the machine.

2. Achieve the effect of balancing the cylinder

The balance cylinder is used to balance the Z-axis. When the Z-axis load force is equal to the gravitational force generated by the cylinder air pressure, the Z-axis remains balanced. Once the attraction of the cylinder is less than the force of gravity, the whole balance system is out of control. Both the z-axis and the probe will drop. It may damage the probe and Z-axis.

3. Measurement accuracy

The three-dimensional coordinate measuring machine needs to perform measurements in a stable environment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement results. Changes in external pressure may cause deformation of measuring mechanism components or changes in the measurement environment, thereby affecting measurement accuracy.

4. System adjustment

In the air bearing system, it is usually necessary to adjust the air pressure and air bearing gap according to different workpieces and measurement requirements. Changes in external pressure may require readjustment of the air bearing system to ensure proper operation and measurement accuracy of the measuring machine.
