How to Clean The CMM Grating Ruler

High-precision CMM requires work in a dust-free indoor environment, the temperature must be controlled between 18 and 22 degrees, and the air humidity must be controlled between 40% and 70%. Therefore, proper air conditioners must be installed in the measurement environment. Conditional users can choose to install a dryer to ensure air quality. Although the CMM is in such a good environment, the grating ruler still needs regular maintenance. This can ensure the measurement accuracy and extend the service life of the CMM.

Grating ruler is a precision measurement component, and its maintenance plays a great role in improving the measurement accuracy. Playing notes is the correct way to clean a grille ruler:

First dip the absorbent ball with dehydrated alcohol, take the absorbent ball from one side of the grating ruler to wipe it to the other side, and then replace it with a clean cotton ball and wipe it again. Cotton balls cannot be reused or wiped back and forth. In particular, do not touch the reading head during the wiping process. Since the reader head is used to read the raster sensor calibration, its position and distance from the raster can be accurately adjusted. If you change these things, you will cause a read error and you will not be able to boot the system, so be sure to pay attention. And do not let the noisy cotton fiber stick to the grating, fiber adsorption will produce static impact on the reading head. The grating ruler should not be wiped frequently, every quarter or half a year.

For Renishaw open grating ruler, there is a protective film on the grating ruler layer. If you want to clean, you can wipe with a flannel cloth dipped in water or wipe with anhydrous ethanol. However, the quality of anhydrous ethanol must be high, which must not contain methanol, because methanol is corrosion protective film.
